121676 2003-02-16 08:04:00 Was Nero bundled with the writer or have you installed nero as a add on.
Did you use Nero on the other CD Writer when you tested that, if so and it worked ok, then the software itself is ok.

Nero is not a hard program to install or operate.

Is this CD Writer of yours supported by Nero, no driver updates for it?

Have you used Nero on this CD Writer before, was it successful?

Since it is still under warranty I don't beleive the store can simply flog it off as your problem placing the onus to prove fault on you, someone more upto date with consumer rights should be able to fill you in better on this though.

i have alwased used nero with the cd-rw and has never worked

121678 2003-02-16 08:58:00 While it maybe under warranty, it could be that if you bought the whole system from them, that opening up the case could void any warranties... best bet would be to simply take the whole computer back and tell them to fix it.

It's under warranty, make it work... that's what I'd say to them. Otherwise, find out who imports Ricoh and contact them directly... if they hear that one of their resellers is giving you grief, they may be a bit more helpful?

121680 2003-02-16 19:05:00 If you remove the CD Writer yourself and it was later found to be faulty as you claim it is already, the supplier could argue that you have damaged it yourself when you removed it therefore it would not be a warranty repair.

You could do a search for Ricoh New Zealand via google.com but that will take you to the printers and scanners and backup of those but a call or email to them all the same might get you pointed in the right direction.

On the CD Writer itself, is there any label that indicates who the supplier was to your current store, if so, look them up direct and see if you can deal direct with them.

Right now your choices are, dump the complete computer on the doorstep of your current supplier and show them that it does not work or find out who there supplier was or the Ricoh Importer is and complain to them about lack of warranty service and see if they will help you.

As far as I know from previous threads on PressF1 opening the case will not void the warranty, Otherwise how could you stick in a USB2.0 card for your new digital camera (an example)
However if you open the case then send a jolt of static through the RAM, well then obviously it will not be covered by warranty.

So have we established if this CD Writter is infact supported by Nero?
