2003-02-17 03:28:00 | After updating my os from win 95 to win 98 I had to update my scanner software for my HP 5100c scanner as the origonal software was only win 95 compatable. I then made a cdr copy of this software for a back up. The problem is when the program set up is run from the cdr I get "severe unknown compress error - 1" come up on screen. The problem does not happen when the same is activated from the origonal copy on my hard drive. any ideas please byron

2003-02-17 03:45:00 | It's probably trying to expand the software package onto the same disk ... the CD. :D Try copying the stuff into a temporary directory on a HD, and run it there. It's nice to see someone testing a backup before you actually need it. ;-)

2003-02-17 06:41:00 | Have you compared the size of the software on your hard drive to the size on your CDR. If different due to compression, suggest check CDR settings. Other long winded way is to compare each file size on Hard drive to CDR size. Record software on a CDRW and replace compressed files with hard drive uncompressed files. | FrankS (257) | |
2003-02-17 08:21:00 | Have tryed what you suggested FrankS the size of the files is the same on the original compared to the CDRW.I copied the files off the CDRW onto my HD reset all the attributes to non read only but still no joy still the same compressed error fault appears during set up. any further ideas from anyone

2003-02-17 09:41:00 | Hello, My first *guesses* would be either the CDR/CDRW software has compression or the O/S or addon Software has compression which is interfering with the process: 1. Could you please tell me the name and version of the CD Burning application 2. The version of windows. 3. If compression software is loaded and if so which. 4. Please record the error message and full and reply with it here as possible as it will make for better diagnosing. Include the above details as well.
