121711 2003-02-16 19:40:00 I have been using Netmeeting successfully for several years, but on the last 3 sessions have come up with dreadful feedback - not an echo but complete repeating of everything I have said. I have tried using the headset but it makes the feedback worse.

I have not been using the headphones and never had this problem over the last few years. The only change in procedure is that the person I am calling has added a vid/cam and is using a different computer, but would that cause a problem my end?

Any suggestions as to what the problem might be please.

121712 2003-02-16 21:22:00 It is most probably a feed back/echo problem due to the other persons microphone picking up your voice and sending it back to you, especially if the other person now has a more sensitive microphone/soundcard, or if the mic is nearer to the speakers than before.
The only way to get reasonable sound free from echo is for both parties to use headphones. I made up a junction box to take 4 sets of phones if several people want to listen in.

121713 2003-02-17 00:13:00 Thanks for your help Terry. The other person was using a head set. It just seem strange that I have communicated without a head set for about 5 years now without any problem. This does not seem to be the normal echo problem which I have experienced occasionally.

However my friend will go back to his other computer and we will try again. But not for the next 4 weeks as I will be away.

Thanks once again.

121714 2003-02-17 01:05:00 Netmeeting is a very finnicky program. Ive had what you describe once or twice in the past, as though the sound is going around and around cyber-space, or being stored somewhere and then being sent back to you.

As it happens Ive just come off Netmeeting having spent quite some time getting it to work with my son with us both going through routers, with adsl connection. A great improvement over dial up.

121715 2003-02-17 02:32:00 Thanks for your reply. However, I am not quite sure what routers or asdl connections are. Gillian (3182)
