122300 2003-02-18 20:10:00 hi everyone,
I have this niggly little problem with windows xp. when the computer go's to stand-by or hybernate i get this nasty message saying " unable to Stand by due to terminal server mouse driver, please close all programs and try again" blah blah and promptly kills my mouse cursor just the cursor mind the mouse still functions you just cant see the cursor.ok. so i close everything still the same problem. ok so ya cant close terminal server. so i check with microsoft they say that the terminal server mouse driver im using is not supported by windows power management and that i should get an updated driver from the mouse manufacturer. ok thats a fair enough call except that i have a microsoft optical wheel mouse running with the latest intelepoint drivers. now 1. would removing terminal server from the system fix the problem 'probibly' if i can remove it and how? just disabling it will not work i tryed . 2. is there a better terminal server mouse driver.

Thanks
greg

PS. windows = windows XP sp1

122301 2003-02-18 20:27:00 This might sound slightly obvious... but are you actually using terminal services at all? If not, just remove the terminal services client. Unless you are actually using it there isn't much point it having it installed. You can always reinstall later from CD if you need it. I believe you can uninstall it from the Add/Remove programs menu. honeylaser (814)
122302 2003-02-18 20:33:00 No im not using it, however i did think of that, and its not in the list of windows components that i can remove. I'm using windows XP PRO Sp1 i should have mentioned Sorry. greg.s (3201)
122303 2003-02-18 20:53:00 If you aren't using TS the inbuilt client (which you're right, you can't remove) should sit in the background doing nothing at all until you activate it by creating a TS connection.

Check if you have a TS connection set up by going start > programs > terminal services client (if it's there).

It would be very odd if TS were running and causing problems if you haven't set it up...

122304 2003-02-18 21:04:00 nope not there. i havent set up terminal server a all the only thing related to it would be start > progs > accessories > communications > remote desktop connection. which i havn't touched at all also in system properties > remote tab i have un-checked remote desktop and remote assistance.

122305 2003-02-18 22:09:00 Sorry, can't help you there :( All sounds a bit funky though. My other other suggestion would be checking for any network connections that are set up (Control Panel > Network Connections), clearing them and reconfiguring. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
