122010 2003-02-17 10:38:00 Phil Spector was in a music group called teddy-bears in 1959. responsible largely for so-called wall of sound in history of rock and roll. just arrested for murder of lana clarkson

a while ago i was using a statistical program called SAS which was a real nightmare program in that it swamped itself with complexities and tried its best to make easy stuff hard. Eventauuily i gave up on it and wrote the sort of stuff i needed myself in much simpler (and more general) way

there was also Phil Spector invoved in the development of SAS - i often wondered if it was the same person, went from nightmare music to nightmare computer programming (although i actually liked a fair bit of his stuff ("that da do run run thing - that's just where I happened to be at the time - just like Yellow Submarine was where the beatles were at the time" as he said (will you find that one on google? - i doubt it))). (note correct number of brackets - that's what excel teaches you).

Anyway it's not the same Phil Spector, one is released on $1millionUS bail, the other is doing (hopefully better statistical stuff than SAS) at Berkeley, California.

Now, what am I writing this stuff for - all I wanted to know was how to charge laptops.

122011 2003-02-17 10:43:00 Yellow Submarine was released just before a family holiday in the South Island. Dad gave me a crystal set for Christmas and climbed a tree in the camping ground to put the aerial up. First song I heard was... Heather P (163)
