| 122362 | 2003-02-19 03:46:00 | Yesterday, All those backups seemed a waste of pay. Now my database has gone away. Oh I believe in yesterday. Suddenly, There's not half the files there used to be, And there's a deadline hanging over me The system crashed so suddenly. I pushed something wrong What it was I could not say. Now all my data's gone and I long for yesterday-ay-ay-ay. Yesterday, Need for backup seemed so far away. Seemed my data were all here to stay, Now I believe in yesterday. Anonymous Alas, Too True :D |

It probably goes with this: Eleanor Rigby Sits at the keyboard, And waits for a line on the screen, Lives in a dream, Waits for a signal, Finding some code, That will make the machine do some more., What is it for?, Guru MacKenzie, Typing the lines of a program that no one will run;, Isn't it fun?, Look at him working, Munching some chips as he waits for the code to compile;, It takes a while... Eleanor Rigby, Crashes the system and loses 6 hours of work;, Feels like a jerk., Guru MacKenzie, Wiping the crumbs off the keys as he types in the code;, Nothing will load. All the lonely users, where do they all come from?, All the lonely users, why does it take so long? |

| 122366 | 2003-02-20 03:12:00 | Ahem . . . . . Dr . Seuss Explains Why Computers Sometimes Crash If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port, and the bus is interrupted at a very last resort, and the access of the memory makes your floppy disk abort, then the socket packet pocket has an error to report . If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash and the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash; and your data is corrupted cause the index doesn't hash, then your situation's hopeless and your system's gonna crash! If the label on the cable on the table at your house says the network is connected to the button on your mouse, but your packets want to tunnel to another protocol, that's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall, and your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss, so your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse; then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang, 'cuz sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang! When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy in the disk and the macrocode instructions cause unnecessary risk, then you'll have to flash the memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM . Quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your Mom! For many, many more go here ( . poppyfields . net/filks/fullindex . html" target="_blank">www . poppyfields . net) |

It is sung to the tune of Sullivan ( of Gilbert & Sullivan fame ) I am the very model of a modern Major General. This is from HMS Pinafore ( I think ) After you finish don't forget to untangle your tongue. |
