122497 2003-02-20 06:25:00 Jerky in general and seems to happen when there is a southerly, seems ok on a sunny day.
Good example is when on desktop,it jerks between icons and sometimes stops or wont move untill one gets ferocious.

122498 2003-02-20 07:16:00 What background progs do you have?
How much grunt does your computer have?

If you answer lots & none, there lies your answer.

122499 2003-02-20 07:21:00 Do you use a mousepad or something similar (like the back of a slightly rough book)? Or are you running it on a smooth surface?

A slightly rough surace is best.

Did you clean the surface as well as the mouse?

If all else fails - replace it.

122500 2003-02-20 07:37:00 If it used to be OK with your present configuration and program load, and you haven't done anything dramatic or stupid to your computer, I'd take the advice given and check the rollers inside the mouse for an accumulation of dirt and fluff.

You have to pick it off with a toothpick or similar then use a cottonwool bud and meths to clean the residues.

Cheers

122501 2003-02-20 08:31:00 The computer in question is my old one,166 with 32 ram,I sold it to the vineyard and of course feel responsible,my manager uses it and tends to use anything but the pad, will look again to see if it is realy clean. Thomas (1820)
122502 2003-02-20 08:36:00 If you have a spare working mouse - take it down in your back pocket just in case.

When you check the mouse also check the surface it's on. If no joy do a swap (turning computer off first. I was assured one day that mice are not hot-swapable).

Mice do have a limited life span and cheap ones that work well are available.
