122623 2003-02-20 20:45:00 what programs have you got running in the background? tweak'e (174)
122624 2003-02-20 20:52:00 Hi Heni

For starters, hit CTRL/ALT/DEL, open the task manager and see what applications and processes are running. Close anything suspicious but if you are not sure, do a Google search on the details to see what it is.

I presume your AV program is up to date and being used, so if you have been surfing dangerously, dowload and run Adaware6 to clear out any nasties.

Post the results and we'll take it from there.

Cheers

122625 2003-02-20 23:36:00 um... nothing suspicious
the programs using most memery and cpu power are the norton AV and explorer but non of them goes up to using 100%

this all starts even before I log in
could it be something wrong in the services part
or is there some task window try to finish but could not

all i remember is the last thing i installed was divx 3.11alpha because i wanted to try nan-dub
then this happened i notice decrease in speed
then i uninstall the codec
but the cpu still stays at 100%

122626 2003-02-21 01:04:00 There is a program related to CTHELP or something like that that goes crazy every once in a while. I just find it and end task it. Cant remember off hand exactly what it was but something like that as it has not happened for a while. Big John (551)
122627 2003-02-21 05:54:00 Go to Google and type in PCPitstop.

Its an online program that scans your computer, and tells you any faults it picks up, and helps you fix it It was recommended to me on this forum
