According to the latest >>FFWD Mag, photo quality is approx 20 megapixel, with camera's just coming onto the consumer market at 16 mp-ish. I use a webcam at home that does 640x480 and use that for stills. Not the best, but it cost about $70 so Im not complaining, as its better than nothing. Now is a great time, as pricing is coming down quickly in digi-cams :D |

| 122793 | 2003-02-21 18:04:00 | I have seven digital cameras at the moment. They range from ultra basic and cheap up to not so cheap. I have 4800 photos on my PC, have printed about 26. Most on A4. They get stored until I want them. I should print more, I know. That excludes PCW product pics and trademe pics that tend to get deleted regularly. Choose the media format carefully, you'll be buying more of it. Consider the battery type, one I have uses AAs and it rocks because I always have a spare set (use rechargeables). Resolution - even 2mp is fine, but 3 or 4 makes A4 and larger better. Reality is that nobody looks at an A4 print on the wall from two inches away. Zoom lens is not easily changed, if he likes sports or wildlife then zoom is handy. Sport needs faster shutter speed (1/1000). Hope that helps. robo. |

| 122794 | 2003-02-21 21:39:00 | I bought a Kodak DX3600, 2.2MP, about a year ago and I've had a hell of a lot of fun with it . I burn photos onto cd occasionally and get the ones I really want developed at a Kodak lab, and they're fine. I don't have a lot of experience in this area, but I find 2.2mp quite adequate. Just as a matter of interest my son bought a Samsung in Broadway Newmarket for a real good price and From memory its 3+mp. | jcr1 (893) | ||
| 122795 | 2003-02-21 23:31:00 | Susan, you may like to try this website for some ideas: www.dpreview.com Also I am not sure where you live, but if you are in ChCh, I did quite a bit of research on prices etc a few months ago, and this shop seemed to be the best around for price, range, and back up. I notice in The Press this am that they are selling some specials at the moment - if they don't have what you want in stock they will give you a firm order at the special price: http://www.photo.co.nz/ They are not far from where we live, and my son and I have both bought a lot of "steam" cameras from them and have had great service. The camera I chose for our needs (following recommendations from the owner of the shop) was the Fuji FinePix 401 which comes with a cradle that is connected to your PC. When you come home with pix you just slot it into the cradle and download your pix: www.fujifilm.co.uk However, in the finish, I panicked and didn't buy a digital - I bought a new film camera instead! Bazza, I do not set out to flame ANYONE, unless of course they have flamed or spoken down at me. The problem with the written word is that the reader "reads" something more into it, than what the writer has "written" Bazza, if you are directing your comment at what I said about Roofus and his electric shock, well, he did leave himself open to it. Whats wrong with a little humour and humourous debate. |

| 122798 | 2003-02-22 03:41:00 | There is an old adage, dot com, that perhaps you might wish to note and reflect upon in a quiet moment sometime: A joke is only a joke if everyone is laughing Perhaps your efforts are a bit to subtle, or sharp. No offence intended, because I have been pulled up more than once on F1 for allowing my sense of humour to override my common sense. Let he who is without sin etc. etc. Cheers Billy 8-{) :D |

Whats wrong with a bit of humour for cripes sake. Geez, do you have to serve an apprenticeship or something around here. You people wouldn't know what was funny if it ran up and bit up on the backside. Bye |
