122642 2003-02-20 19:23:00 I'm having a problem getting an old SB16 ISA card to run under Win98se. It will work with the windows CD player and normal music CD but will not play windows sounds or media files including mp3.

It installed ok as a plug n play SB16 - I have tried other drivers off the net without success.

Maybe these old ISA cards are now junk??

122643 2003-02-21 00:55:00 It'll be playing music CDs ok due to the wire running from your cdrom drive to the card - there could be a problem with the ISA slot. Can you shift it to another slot - if you have one available? antmannz (28)
122644 2003-02-21 02:00:00 What Address's is the card using. IRQ I/O DMA etc
As I have seen some of those older cards try to use IRQ 7 which is being used by the parallel port now in new PC's.

I think you will find that the card uses IRQ 5
but thats probably irrelevant as well. Does it play .wav files?
have you got the sound up?
What prog are you using to play your mp3's. Is this configured correctly?

double click on your speaker on your taskbar it will bring up many volume controls, make sure wave volume is full
