| 1330032 | 2013-02-25 09:25:00 | Daughter trying to install MS Office 2011 She has an old 2007 trial version which has expired and when opening the new Install file it brings up the product key box for the old version. Initially it was bringing up an Adobe reader error when the installer opened but removed Adobe and not getting that eror now Will uninstalling the old version allow the new one to be installed do you think The old version is working but not all the functions and as she is in the middle of an assignment reluctant to uninstall unless certain the new one will install ok |

If you uninstall the old one, it "should" leave your files alone, they will simply change Icons as there is no program associated to them. To be safe though - copy off the documents etc to a removable drive. Uninstall 2007 trial, reboot, then install the new version. BTW there is no 2011 for windows (2011 was only for MAC's) its either 2010 or 2013. After you install it all your current documents should open and work fine, once office has been activated. |

| 1330039 | 2013-02-25 19:50:00 | Uninstalling the older version is the best way to ensure you can install the new one smoothly, unfortunately. While the two versions should, in theory, play nicely together, you end up with some really odd issues, from missing or wrong template files to quickstart bar problems. | Zara Baxter (16260) | ||
| 1330040 | 2013-02-25 21:23:00 | I bought the 2007 tertiary edition which provided the free upgrade to 2010 which I think you had to upgrade instead of uninstalling. It works fine but ... if you go into the installed components and install the other bits ... it can have issue eg .. the MS Imaging OCR program cannot be installed under the 2010 branch, it's under the 2007. Both 2007 and 2010 are listed under Programs (Control Panel) but the main software Word, Excel etc .. only the 2010 versions are on the Start Menu. | Nomad (952) | ||
