Many teachers do not know how to mark pupils work correctly www.stuff.co.nz This would mean that the real figures for the number of under achievers is much higher than has been published, because: "A report for the Ministry of Education said a large percentage of teachers tended to give higher marks to students than what they deserved, Radio New Zealand reported" It is left as an exercise for a qualified teacher to calculate a new estimate of under achievers from the data published, if they are able, that is, without making an error :thumbs: |

| 1304699 | 2012-10-02 19:19:00 | The teacher's unions have done everything possible to frustrate the introduction of NES. Some schools have refused to provide any data at all. This all reduces the value of the currently published information. One cannot tell a lot from one years data anyway, given a few years it should make more sense with improvement or not becoming obvious. |
