They are keeping all the profits, and the average man is seeing diminishing returns for his efforts. Once it hits a crisis point and these greedy people begin to fear for their lives, or for their next meal, only then they will let the purse strings loose and allow Joe Average to live profitably from his labours.

That, or war will see them displaced from ownership and control of their personal empires.

But as long as these people feels secure they'll continue to squeeze more and more from society, until society retaliates.

Well put, but I find it hard to imagine them loosening the purse strings.

As far as I am aware, it is to nobodies advantage to stop growth, so the answer is no.
