1304522 2012-10-02 10:20:00 It didn't even last as long as that other 'TradeMe' clone that got shutdown when users ended up at a porn website if they used .com instead of .co.nz on the address.  pcuser42 (130)
1304523 2012-10-02 10:24:00 Oh, and of course, don't forget the fact that you can buy goods for -$5. pbs.twimg.com pcuser42 (130)
1304524 2012-10-02 17:42:00 Some competition for greedy TradeMe is a good thing. I have no doubt about that. But the Wheedle launch was a bloody disaster and right now will be someone's nightmare.

I can forgive Wheedle some startup problems.

What I cannot forgive is that they offer NO alternative way to contact Wheedle staff other than a site-based mail form, which, if your Wheedle registration process was an unmitigated (404 Page Not Found) disaster, is inexcusable.

Their Twitter feed was also unattended and/or broken, and died after a day or so.

All customer doors were/are closed to communication with Wheedle.
Who the hell designed it that way, at a time when it's absolutely certain that their customers will want to contact them?

Wheedle, you get a 10/10 for your initiative in providing much needed competition for the TradeMe oligarchy. But you get a 0/10 for creating a communications disaster. There's no excuse for that.

Correct. Adding fuel to the fire that he had no idea what he was doing.

1304527 2012-10-02 20:27:00 There will be heaps for managers/ceo or what ever that know nothing about html programming, he might be a good manager and thats what counts. To take the site offline is a massive call and shareholders will be spewing but he answers to them.

He made the right call and that is what a good manager should do

There are only four shareholders:

Neil Lindsay GRAHAM
Patrick John BARROW
Ranjith Nokkara SIVARAMAN
Carl Phillip REES

Not a biggie to take it offline (apart from the embarrassment/credibility factor of course)

1304529 2012-10-02 21:21:00 I don't think any of these TradeMe clones will be very successful in the near future.

The problem can be summed up simply:
The sellers stay on TradeMe because the buyers are on TradeMe, while the buyers stay on TradeMe because that's where all the sellers are
