1330568 2013-03-01 04:19:00 That's what I meant by a different shell, the rendering engine is still the same. ;)

In fact all iOS browsers are just Safari with a different shell, Apple doesn't like other browsers.both are WebKit

1330571 2013-03-01 09:02:00 Yes, Chrome is just a skin over Safari ...

One has to wonder why Microsoft got spanked for bundling IE, whilst users still have a choice to install alternative browsers.

This forcing user to use only the Safari Engine should be given the same treatment as MS did??

WP8's browser is based on IE10.

1330573 2013-03-02 02:36:00 Is there any other browsers besides Safari that are any good for the Ipad?

If you search for browser in the app store, there are some good ones.

as others have pointed out, the browsers you can download from the AppStore are all the same, just different skins with a few features thrown in. Chrome will be no faster than Safari, because they must use the same rendering engine, because that is all that Apple will allow to be uploaded into their AppStore

1330576 2013-03-05 04:32:00 One thing that bugs a lot if people is the fact that you can't change the default browser, and so it opens up links in apps like GMail and stuff straight into Safari. Also, some users like to get Flash and stuff on their iPad, which means that they have to use a myriad of different Browsers. i.e before the OnDemand app was avalible on iOS, my aunt would use Puffin browser to watch the vids, Safari for anything taht automatically opened up in it, Chrome for general usage, and some other thing for god knows what.
I guess they should release a browser that has everything.
