Having taught older newbies at SeniorNet I can attest that many of them do not find a mouse easy at all. I think this couple will have no problem coping with that. However I will make sure they try before they buy. Tony (4941)
1330407 2013-02-27 19:22:00 But if they are using XP now touch is soo different than a mouse. I still recommend getting them instore and playing for half an hour. A 5 second play won't suffice, it will be worth it just to make sure they are getting the product they are happy with gary67 (56)
1330408 2013-02-27 19:31:00 I actually think the whole Win8 interface will be more of a challenge than the touch per se. But I will definitely be making sure they do have a hands (or should that be fingers?)-on play with whatever machine they are looking at. Tony (4941)

Thats a spec from 12 years ago.......dont expect it to be speedy

My opinion, by a 15" with at least 2Ghz i3, go for a SSD hard drive, instead of a touchscreen
SSD makes a Huuuuge difference.

Want a real opinion on Acers, ask the guys contracted to do their warranty repairs.
But any cheapy laptop will be just as bad as any other brand.

But any cheapy laptop will be just as bad as any other brand. It is still going to be way faster than what they have at the moment. And I suspect they are only going to be doing email and web surfing and maybe some word processing, so raw power isn't really a big priority. I'd thought about SSD as well, but see my previous remark.
