1330577 2013-02-28 19:33:00 Hi,
I have a couple of DVD (Video TS) files I need to convert to something like AVI or MP4 (HQ). I have downloaded a couple of converters but they either have a massive logo in the middle of the screen or only do half the job. Can someone please recommend a good FREE converter that will convert to HIGH QUALITY AVI or MP4, DivX, together with MERGEING the video TS files and won't leave a watermark. Cheers...

1330578 2013-02-28 19:39:00 Find that Freemake Video converter www.filehippo.com does most thins very well including joining individual clips of either formats Lawrence (2987)
1330579 2013-02-28 19:42:00 Try Freemake video converter. (www.freemake.com) Make sure you do a custom install, otherwise it'll install some crap toolbars. The 1st download

Altho I dont have TS file (to see if it'll load them). But this will (if it loads something) let you edit it, and join separate vids

1330583 2013-02-28 20:44:00 psycik - Thanks for that.

Will it convert and merged video (vob files in Video TS folder) to good quality AVI?

Also, is it free/full version?

I just downloaded Try Freemake video converter and converted my movie (the original in HQ) and it has come out poor quality, often pixilating during playback :dogeye:

Cheers,

1330585 2013-02-28 21:05:00 Handbrake is your friend, it's no-fuss, works solidly, and outputs for a variety of destination types (Such as iPhone etc).

You've also not specified the codec, basically "AVI" is just a container, think of it like a pencil case. In it you can have a variety of pens, pencils, and other things, just like you can have a variety of different methods for encoding the video and audio that gets put into the AVI file.

That and most places now prefer MP4. Read here about why Handbrake dropped support for AVI a few years back: handbrake.fr

1330586 2013-02-28 22:09:00 AutoGK stopped development quite a while back but it still works very well if you want an Xvid or DivX .avi file, you pick the output file quality or file size so if you don't like the results just set it higher. The 1.4G preset size works pretty well.

Handbrake is better though, so if MP4 is ok use that as suggested.

I've used them both, but honestly I don't really do this much any more. In any case they both are free and gave me good results so I second those reccomendations.
