123401 2003-02-23 08:38:00 opened ms photo editor, clicked on scan image, message appears in window

microsoft photo editor acquisition error

unable to open selected TWAIN source
if your scanner is a twain compliant scanner please reinstall the software for that scanner

scanner is canon - canoscan LiDE20/LiDE30

this problem occurred today - scanner has been operating perfectly up to now - have reinstalled the program (twice) but error continues -- anyone tell me what the "twain source" is please and how to get passed that window message? -- thanks, in anticipation

123402 2003-02-23 10:17:00 the error could be a result of lots of things

Could you supply us with your computer specs (like OS for a start).

afaik the twain drivers are the things that interact with scanners/camera's etc. maybe a virus has corrupted the files or someone has deleted files from your pc.
i can not see no specific solution sorry.

123403 2003-02-25 03:05:00 It's a USB scanner. I don't think USB is quite stable and perfect yet. :D

Try installing the software again (with the scanner not plugged in). Then plug the scanner in.

It probably does has a TWAIN driver. That is a piece of software which gives all sorts of imaging hardware a uniform interface which image-processing programmes can handle. The application programme is complaining because TWAIN is the only thing it knows ... the actual hardware is hidden from it.
