| 123291 | 2003-02-23 02:28:00 | CD-Rom not working. Usually auto-start goes when a cd is inserted but now it's not. When I run the cd manually it says disc is not detected or words to that effect. If I run it from the start menu it says the drive is inaccessible. Device manager says the drive is working properly. Recently moved house and drive working before then but not since. What should I do to check if that may have been the problem? Still new to the computer so advice in layman's terms would be appreciated. | jrust (2064) | ||

They can come loose if there is a lot of vibration (such as occurs when moving house). This is unlikely with the power connector, and if the drawer opens the powers is probably OK. Next, there might be a piece of paper loose in the drive. It happens. If it shakes to cover the lens, the unit won't work. The device manager does not really test for functioning ... it says it has found a CD drive. |
