| 123220 | 2003-02-22 09:21:00 | Microstar 815ept motherboard, Dynalink Lucent hardware modem, Windows ME. Starting computer after full shutdown, windows (or bios) wont detect modem. Somtimes it takes a couple of full shutdowns, before windows decides to detect it. I have up to date drivers, played around in bios changing settings, but still the same prob. This problem doesn't occur if restarting or reset button is pushed. I notice on boot up, " updating DMI ", when i see this message i know the modem is working. Normally i would leave the computer going, and woulded have this problem, but it's in my room at the moment. |

| 123221 | 2003-02-22 10:38:00 | Reset the BIOS to defaults Boot into safe mode, right click on my computer & select devices. Expand each section & remove devices you know you don't have anymore, especially the modems & enumerators section. Don't remove the "dial up adaptor" though you need this. If you have installed & removed devices in the past they will still be listed. Reboot. If still no good change the BIOS to setup defaults & try again. If the problem still persists check the boards website for a BIOS upgrade. DON"T do a BIOS upgrade unless you know what you are doing though as you could render the machine usesless if it goes wrong. |
