The AMD PR rating has more to do with Public Relations than performance. Havent you noticed that the formula used is changed all the time?
For example, look at the new Barton core (3000+) with 512KB cache. It's clocked at 2.17 GHz, the same as the XP 2700 with Thoroughbred core and 256KB cache. The extra 256 KB cache doesn't yeild anywhere near a 11% increase in performance... |

There actually is a pattern. Or there was one last time I had a look, can't find where I saw the spreadsheet example though. |

It was about 100 points for each 66MHz increase, but they've changed it at lease twice since then. It's just marketing to make new computer consumers think that their '2000' AMD is actually 2GHz processor. |
