123414 2003-02-24 00:28:00 i had to do some graphics work for a guy who had a Pentium1 with about 32MB ram, the graphics were of a high res, i was using something along the lines of paint shop pro. It took me about 1.5 hours to do, I repeated the task when he upgraded his computer to about 500mhz and it took me about 5-10 minutes!!!!!!
It was amazing the hard disk would just chug for 10s of minutes on end just to complete 1 thing.

I didn't mind though i was getting paid, so i didn't mind using up 1.5 hours ]:)

123415 2003-02-24 08:07:00 Thanks guys. I'll MIGHT try uninstalling Ram Idle, and I think I'll switch off System Resource Mointor (a la Fix-It), but I'll keep ZD's Net Monitor because it keeps me on the internet with a pulse that makes my ISP think I am still using it. ;\ Also I will keep Power Desk because it leave Explorer for dead as does Mozilla which defeats Internet Explorer in a no race contest. :|

I did discover loads of files in an undeleter sub culture of Fix-It and " deleted the bins". That helped. :D I have 64 mB RAM so that's OK.

As far as not using non-microsoft products - you've got to be joking. :O

The URL's will be useful as I have already got Tweake UI, Advanced System, Ad Aware, and Net Speed. B-)

As I was writing this, I was doing without "RAM Idle", but I invoked it again, just to keep going - so it is useful.

I am happy with Eudora Mail as it won't let through half the stuff the Outlook and Outlook Express does, even with Mailwasher which I also wouln't want to be without :D

And, I cannot do without my firewall, BlackIce defender. If nothing else, this one has kept me going as I would have bombed right out without it.

Next thing I do will be a complete virus check. Turn it off, you say? Are you wise?
