123061 2003-02-21 21:18:00 I am running XP and have been downloading OK but suddenly my settings have gone, and Dial up wizard wont allow me to set up a new connection. It reports that Error 711 access to the Remote Access Connection Manager is denied, and error 1057 Service Rasman cannot be
configured. As Explorer is part of the OS on XP does this require & reinstall of XP?

123062 2003-02-21 21:24:00 do you have more than one account on the XP system??

I ask this because you might have to login as an administrator of the system to configer the internet.

I am sure that you wont have to reinstall XP

If so Reinstall SP1 otherwise try the following and also check the MS information Here ( support.microsoft.com)

07. Press the Start button.

09. Right-click Remote Access Connection Manager and press Properties.

10. Select the General tab.

11. Set Startup type to Manual.

12. Press the Start button.

123066 2003-02-22 07:30:00 >Remote Access Auto Connection Manager
Is only needed if you want a connection automatically when it needs one. I prefer mine turned off and to connect manually. Call me a control freak if you like. :D

123067 2003-02-22 09:11:00 With IE open got to Tools/Internet Options
Click on Connections tab at the top
Make sure the ISP icon is showing as the default.
Make sure "always dial my default connection" has the dot in it.
Click Apply and OK
Close IE and restart.
