| 124150 | 2003-02-26 08:33:00 | A lot of the time, I will be downloading and other things on one PC, and another PC may be chatting (Ive got several running ICS). Now, is there any way that I can give one PC more priority over another in terms of bandwidth, or even give PC X 1/4 the connection, and PC Y 1/2 etc... Im basically wanting one PC's Net requests to get priority over another, if its possible. Just a thought.... Cheers Chilling_Silence |

| 124153 | 2003-03-01 07:25:00 | What OS is the server running, I see XP mentioned above - of it is, open the network connection properties and look for the QoS packet scheduler item. There should be some options in their for limiting/controlling bandwidth. However, I think that this only applies to LAN connections, not modem... If the QoS item isnt there, it can be installed by selecting install, then service, then QoS. Unfortunately, because it is MS there are not many options if i remember correctly - i removed it because it reserves too much bandwidth for the OS, and slows big file transfers by as much as 40%... | 124155 | 2003-03-03 06:03:00 | Okay, yep, there's XP Pro on the server, and half clients. QoS is there under my LAN connections, but there's no config options for it. I'm mainly wanting to slow the net connection on the gateway, which will be even more-so when I get cable.... How would I go about this? The Properties button for QoS is greyed out! |
