124115 2003-02-27 02:18:00 Surely it would be easier to write 'w2k' rather than 'NT 5 (w2k)' are you trying to seem old skool or something? BIFF (1)
124116 2003-02-27 02:30:00 Try IP forwarding. It's usually disabled by default. If the file /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward contains "0", it's disabled. "1" means enabled. The file /etc/syconfig/network might have an entry FORWARD IPV4 "yes" (or "no") which controls this. Graham L (2)
124117 2003-02-27 03:03:00 Hah! IPv4 sucks.

Anyway, how about just putting everything wireless?

I like to call things by their real name (NT5) not its marketing name, it makes it much easier to compare versions (NT 4, 5, 5.1, 5.2).

Well I'm loading on XP Pro onto the box right now, and if the bridging in that doesn't work, then I will try linux. Bearing in mind that this is only a temporary measure, I plan to build a dedicated Linux Proxy for the network (and before that I plan to buy a proper Wireless Access Point), however that is a few months away, as I cant afford it all on my small student income.

So NT wasn't a marketing name?
Using those version numbers actually makes the whole thing more confusing as you're the only one using them!

124124 2003-02-27 06:18:00 Oh and, I loaded up NT 5.1 onto the laptop, selected both the network icons, right clicked and hit bridge..... and bang, it worked, I'm now surfing the net anywhere on floor 4 without cables, it is sooooooooooooo cool B-)B-)B-) nz_liam (845)
