124235 2003-02-26 21:37:00 Greetings,

Having just bought a pc with MS Works on it I was wondering if MS Office XP can also be installed on it without probs. Certain features from Works (i.e. Standard Encyclopedia) I like to keep but it would be nice to have Excel as well. Any positive feedback welcome. Thanks and regards. Guy

124237 2003-02-27 00:57:00 I ran them both for a while without any conflicts however I ended up removing works as I couldn't see any benefit (for me) to run them both.

124238 2003-02-27 01:10:00 I was running Office and needed Works for a short time for compatibility with someone on a joint project. Worked no problems.

Only possible potential problem that I can see is if Works is set to read .doc files. Installing Office may override this automatically otherwise it's an easy manual change.

With my old Works 4.5 the "extras" like the encyclopaedia, etc are programs installed additionally to the main Works program. I would imagine that the newer versions would be the same so you should be able to install and use them even without Works.
