124194 2003-02-26 19:27:00 Hello Folks,

This may be wishful thinking, but I wonder if there is an ISP that allows two email addresses for one account - BUT so that each email address can be downloaded separately?

I know that some will allow even up to 5 email addresses per account, but all addresses get downloaded at the same time, into the same email platform.

The situation here at home is that my wife and I need two separate email addresses.

BTW, I have been with XTRA for nearly 7 years, with the same xtr number, and even though I changed email addresses (to set up my wife's new email), the xtr number stays the same - ALONG with the junk mail - ugh! A couple of years ago I made the big mistake of replying to two junk mails, telling them to remove me from their list: stupid idea, I know. My other ISP is Paradise, and my email address is plastered over heaps of web pages, so again this = lots of junk. We use Mailwasher but it is getting to be a pain, to blacklist, delete and bounce so much junk mail.

Thanks. - Steve_L

124195 2003-02-26 19:30:00 Why don't you just sign up at Orcon? You can get a free lifetime email address as well as your own webpage. The emails can be accessed through your POP3 account as well as online. Susan B (19)
124196 2003-02-26 19:48:00 All ISP's allow allow extra email addresses with their own account name and password.
If you set both addresses up in Outlook Express when you send/receive all mail comes into the one inbox.

If you want to keep the mail seperate you set up a new identity in Outlook Express which in effect gives a seperate Outlook Express for each address with its own settings and inbox.

Go to File/Identities and set one address up in here in a new identity.
To switch between identities just go File/Manage identities.

If junk mail is getting out of control get your ISP to change your email address and start fresh, and be careful where you leave your email address.
If you have to use an email address on a web site signup for a free one such as Hotmail and this will keep your normal address relatively free of junk.

124197 2003-02-26 19:58:00 All ISP's will give you seperate email accounts except xtra!!!

If you are with any other ISP and you have two email addresses, they are completely seperate, no getting the same junkmail etc

124199 2003-02-27 00:05:00 Another way is to create another folder and using a filter separate the emails that way. mikebartnz (21)
124200 2003-02-27 00:56:00 IHUG will give you what you need.

all users will have to dial in with the same login but get seprate email address that are down loaded at diffrent times.

124201 2003-02-27 01:09:00 Hmmm .... you can get a separate email account with Xtra, but it does cost ($5 per mth, I think). antmannz (28)
124202 2003-02-27 01:26:00 The family use 4 separate email addresses. Sometimes they check their mail on this machine, sometimes on another one.

A couple are included in the regular "Send and Receive", one is checked manually whenever required and the 4th is checked manually leaving a copy of the message on the server (so when the other machine is on they can download it to that inbox).

I've also used the filter that where messages are to a certain person they get moved automatically to their own folder (not great security for them as I can still view them but it means it doesn't clutter up the inbox. One daughter uses hotmail to get around this).

This doesn't, of course, help with your problem of gaining more addresses but it's a way of dealing with emails when you get them.

124203 2003-02-27 01:34:00 AFAIK, All Xtra accounts that are setup get "delivered" to the primary email account yourusername@xtra.co.nz, even if you ask for joebloggs@xtra.co.nz, it'll all go to yourusername@xtra.co.nz

Try Hotmail, as MSN and Xtra are quite closely knit, and you can download Hotmail to Outlook Express too!
