| 124670 | 2003-02-28 07:06:00 | I have a 5 y/o hp pc with a 300mhz celeron chip 128 meg ram (updated 18months ago) and a tiny 3 gig hd running win 98. I have been looking at trading up to a new pc but was wondering about the viability of updating what i already have. Is this a viable option? i would like at least a 1.8 gig chip 40 gig drive and cdr. Any ideas? what sort of $$$$$ do you think I would be in for | miknz1 (3224) | ||

| 124673 | 2003-02-28 08:20:00 | no matter what you buy now, its going to be outdated and crap next month. you can try and hedge your losses by getting a future proof motherboard, but you never know what these companies are gonna do. I just upgraded to a 1800+ I got a gigabyte GA-7VA motherboard at around $170 the reason i choose that one was because it can handle the new Barton chips been put out by AMD, |
