124485 2003-02-27 09:38:00 Ok I have 1 Hard drive, a cdrom drive, a floppy and a cd-rw drive (all internal).

I had an old 512mb hard drive from our old 386 computer and I tried to put it into the computer just cos I thought it might be cool to have an extra 512mb :). Didn't work unfortunately.

Problem was I think I ran out of power cable things inside the computer to connect the old hard drive up. So no more additions for me??

I think my PC Company Comp has room for 3external drive bays, 2floppy bays, and about room for 3hard drives.

In future I want to have:

A dvdrw drive, a cdrom drive, and a cd-rw drive
3 separate hard drives
and maybe 2 floppy drives.
(8 things all up)

So what sort of inside power source am I going to need for all this? Is it possible to have this sort of setup in a computer?

124486 2003-02-27 10:11:00 Might have to get a [chunky] 400 watt or greater PSU, and possibly some power cable splitters, so you can run two devices off one plug etc. agent (30)

Don't bother with the old HDD, it will slow down the other device on the channel you connect it to (probably your hdd) and 512mb is not a lot of space.

124489 2003-02-27 17:35:00 Basically it is an extra PCI Card that you put into you computer. This gives you some more places (usually two) for you to plug the data cables for devices such as HDD, CD's etc.

MIght I also suggest that you don't put the CD drive into you system. If you have a DVD drive and a CDR they are capable of reading ordinary CD's
