| 124646 | 2003-02-28 05:00:00 | I am using the ihug Utlra and the windows XP. I always expericing losing the downstream connection within 2 minutes if i boosh the download speed to 100KB per second, if i keep the connection less than 10KB per second, the line will last for about 30-60 mintues. Once the connection is lost, then i will need to re-start the pc. I rang the ihug helpdesk so many time, they always given me few solutions like set the IP, submask, DNS, use extra command on modem, put a new fan in to my system (I had 3 fans), change the PCI slot, update patch, etc... All the solution do not help at all. Then the helpdesk person told me is because the Ultra software and hardware itself is not compatible with windows XP. Anyone know how to solve this problem besides re-install other OS beside windows XP? I hope somebody can give me a solution on this, because this problem making be very disappointed. I am planning to switch from ultra to jetstart, although this will bring down my connection speed from 500kbps to about 128kbps, but at least it is unlimited and stable. Thank you |

| 124647 | 2003-02-28 05:19:00 | Win 98, Ultra and WinProxy for internet sharing across the network. First, if you want to share Ultra using ICS - don't. They might have fixed the problems with the release of XP but it took me some considerable time to figure out it can't be done with 98 thus the use of Win Proxy. Win Proxy started crashing - blue screens everywhere and the odd freeze. Solved the problem by updating the Ultra drivers. I see that the Ultra site has drivers for XP along with a patch. Have you tried the latest drivers? Updating drivers fixed my problem. www.getultra.co.nz |

They dont know what they are talking about. I was with Ultra until I got my JetStream connection and it worked 100% all the time I used itwith XP Pro. About 7 months worth and except for the times when they actually throttled back the bandwidth was always getting around 400-600 KBytes/Sec. I cant say what your problem is but it does certainly work with XP JetStart is not unlimited. Most have a 5GB to 10GB limit built in. |

| 124650 | 2003-02-28 08:12:00 | what motherboard do you have? cpu? what card, check what firmware it has (the skymedia prog displays it). check for spyware. some of them upset the ihug drivers. i've had a few recently where the connection dropped and would only come back after a reboot. after resetting tcp/ip it was working sweet. when the connection drops does the locktest lock? have you got your motherboard drivers installed? |
