124834 2003-03-01 07:07:00 I have a IBM 350 I am setting up for my grand daughter to use to stop her from causing havoc on mine. Can I upgrade the RAM,currently 32mb by simply replacing it with a 128mb one or is there more to it than that as a diagram inside the pc seems to suggest.

124835 2003-03-01 07:41:00 Depending on what type of RAM the computer will take. It should be as easy as simply taking it out, and replacing it (of course, taking anti-static precautions).

You need to make sure you have the right type of RAM, and it should work - that's your biggest concern.

I'm not sure what type of RAM your IBM 350 uses, so I can't help you specifically.

124836 2003-03-02 01:53:00 I suspect (very strongly) that your PC 350 uses 72 pin SIMM memory. 128MB (168 pin) doesn't fit. You can buy 72pin SIMM at trademe.co.nz. Most will be 60 or 70 ns speed; don't buy 80 ns if it's offered. Go for "EDO", it's probably needed, and won't hurt if it's not. ;-)

If it's a Pentium, it will need memory added in pairs. If it's a 486, it won't.

124837 2003-03-02 06:53:00 Try here:-

www.pc.ibm.com

You will need to type all this into your browser.

From what I read you will have a Pentium processor and memory will need to be added in pairs 72 pin RAM is what you need.

The above link will give you all the IBM part numbers in chart form.

If you can get a number off the system board I can help further.
