I don't know if there's an achievement standard that asks you to work out how much you could type in the time it would take to teach the free program! It's the old story - you're going to get what you pay for! Sorry. It may be better to search for reviews of good progs. but watch for the ability to take in to account the NZ accent. | BernieL (1913) | ||
| 124830 | 2003-03-01 10:39:00 | WinXP has support for speech to text. You can also look here:- www.scansoft.com There's also viavoice from IBM. I don't know of any free ones. Make sure the computer you are using has heaps of grunt. |

| 124831 | 2003-03-01 10:53:00 | James, if speech to text really was a runner, why dont we see all the professional offices using it? Simply that the time taken to teach it your speech patterns, plus the time to edit the output is in total greater than the time to type it out. I am sure they will get there as algorythms improve, but its not quite there yet without hours/days of input and on going editing. And not to mention expensive....so forget free for a decade. XP is getting there but IMHO its got a way to go. |
