124873 2003-03-01 10:56:00 Usually the $40 per hour tradesman sends the apprentice, while the $20hour tradesman does the work himself. Can't afford an apprentice Baldy (26)
124874 2003-03-02 00:03:00 if the manual updates have been removed, what about the auto updates?

i also wonder if that is a quick fix for the bug in it. ?:|

off to download it to find out.

btw $40 an hour tradesperson is still fairly cheap. i doubt a $20 tradesperson would be able to put food on the table. (all depends on which industry of course).

124876 2003-03-02 00:30:00 Who needs Zonealarm.

Redhat 8.0 on my old Petium 233 running hardware firewall. Just LAN them up and proxy and away you go, free of charge (if you have an old computer, which they pratically give away these days)

Linux will run on a 486 so anything with a CD ROM and lan card should work.

This site has a good set of instructions

124877 2003-03-02 00:36:00 how many general joe bloggs have a spare pc (tho old 486's are easy enought to get) and have the time and the know how to set it all up, maintain it, + the hassle of having needing 2 pc's running .

also whats stopping a roghe program(spyware, trojen) from accessing the net? a hardware firewall dosn't have applaction control, so a software firewall is still needed .
