124957 2003-03-02 02:43:00 I want to back up my emails, but I don't know how to find them. They don't seem to be anywhere obvious! Can someone help? I use Eudora 5.2 and Windows XP. colmack (2939)
124958 2003-03-02 03:06:00 I do not know Eudora and someone else will, I am sure, answer your specific question.

However can I suggest that for backups there is an excellent FAQ written by Susan B. Well worth reading. Amongst other things she suggests putting the email files in your 'My Documents' which will then make the process easier, because when you backup 'My Documents' you also back up the email files.

Try looking in Frogram Files\Qualcomm\Eudora. Browse down past the sub-folders and the mailboxes should end with an .mbx extension. Of course it depends on where you installed Eudora.

You've put your finger precisely on my problem: more than once I've looked through every folder in Qualcomm and Eudora and can find nothing that looks like any of the folders or individual emails that I know must be there somewhere.

I used to run an earlier version of Eudora and didn't have this problem: it's either the later version (5.2) or possibly XP that hides them from me.

I am a little confused. Does that mean you cannot see any mailboxes with the .mbx extension in that folder?

124962 2003-03-02 03:51:00 Do a search on your hard drive for *.mbx and they will turn up. They will be labelled "In", "Out", "Trash", etc.

If you have also used Outlook Express that program's .mbx files will also appear but you will be able to tell the difference between the Eudora and OE files from their locations.
