125410 2003-03-04 02:42:00 Ive modified the smb.conf file in Knoppix from the PCW CD, although I saved it as smb2.conf and went mv smb2.conf smb.conf (I hit Ctrl + Alt + F2 and got a root konsole, I now know that you can also do it within the GUI, but anyways...)

Now I want it to be restarted, only service smb restart says it cant find service command.. What do I do?

Another thing, in redhat 8 I think I typed nfsamba, and it brought up a samba GUI (Was that the right command??), what can I do to bring up a network browser (Samba) in Knoppix?

Thanks

Try:

/etc/init . d/samba restart

I don't don't remember seeing one .

You can mount shares from the commandline using (as root):

smbmount //hostname/share /mnt/somewhere

125412 2003-03-04 06:50:00 Yeah, in redhat there's a GUI for SAMBA browsing, pretty darn good too, better than using Network neighbourhood, but you've gotta know the browse master in some cases if it cant find it itself ;-)

Is there a GUI SMB Browser for Knoppix (The one on the PCW CD)??

Thanks

I'll give that a shot (restart samba)
