| 125198 | 2003-03-03 02:43:00 | Hi, I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 that won't hibernate anymore, either by selecting it manually from the start menu or closing the lid ... it used to. when selected the screen goes blank but it does not powerdown and the only way to switch it off is the Power button, not good. Where can I start to look for problems, please? |

Try right-clicking on your desktop and choose properties Click on the screen saver tab and then hit Power Management or Power Options (Or the likes....) Have a look around in there for setting to do with closing the screen and having it hibernate. Also, click on the APM tab and make sure there's a tick in the box HTH Chilling_Silence |

| 125203 | 2003-03-03 04:39:00 | So you are saying the settings say one thing, but do something different, just that I find settings sometimes change by the will of Bill,or something. | Thomas (1820) | ||
| 125204 | 2003-03-03 22:34:00 | Everything is checked, crossed, dotted, ticked etc as it should be in every place it should be .... BUT ... when I close the lid or select Hibernate from the drop down menu ... the screen goes blank but the system does not power down. it just sits there blank faced and ON ... the only thing you can do is press and hold the 'off' button to pwer the machine off.
