Hi timmora

Despite the ongoing debate over MS System Restore vs Roxio GoBack, I see you still have your problem.

There are a couple of other things that may help:

- There is a critical update for WinME that addresses a date issue with System Restore. It fixes the error that it sounds like you have been getting. Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 290700 (support.microsoft.com)

- If that doesn't work, you may want to have a look at this Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 303354 (support.microsoft.com). This one addresses a damaged system registry.

125307 2003-03-14 23:26:00 is it wrong to think that if T puts a manual restore point in at this time, because T says his system is now clean, and left it for say 12 hrs or till next day that he/ she could try a restore tomorow or the next day?

that may be the problem it may just be to close to the restore point for it to work?
that is if the machine is as clean as they say with no virus left in it.

and the computer needs time to reset doesnt it and you can only go back in time if there are restore points set whether by the computer or manually, you cannot make one from something if it hasnt restored to that time or date?

is this correct?

125308 2003-03-14 23:40:00 You have about a 20% chance of it working on ME and it will only restore your startup section not any of your files.
I have found the the best way is image your C: and store it on a seperate drive or partition or cdrws this means you can do a complete restore of c: at any time should it be needed with all its applications drivers tweaks etc setup saves about 6 hours of formating and looking for cds drivers etc
Drive Image 2002 does my c: drive in about 10mins very good for trying out new patch's DX9 drivers etc and software that may corrupt my existing O/S used to use goback but its slower and cause your HDD to work excessively especially after a major defrag or deletion of files
