| 125297 | 2003-03-12 00:29:00 | No I didn't expect that. As per virus removal instructions I disabled system restore cleaned the PC of viruses and then and ionly then re-enabled system restore. I know that doing this purges the system restore archives. My problem is that system restore now returns a message of "System restore unsuccessful" whenever I try it. It is not due to lack of disk space either. Any other ideas out there?? |

| 125304 | 2003-03-14 20:30:00 | Yes M$ did release a patch for system restore (danger find it at the windows update site, you may already have it installed) But what version is GoBack up to 3???? that means they too have patched it hence the new version numbers. I'm not saying that GoBack isn't good, but i am saying that system restore isn't bad. I had Goback and it stuffed up my system because it wouldn't work with my brand of BIOS!!!!!. system restore never has problems like that. Each to there own though, but just don't bag system restore, novices may read this thread and think they NEED goBack when really m$ system restore will do the job |

| 125305 | 2003-03-14 21:50:00 | ok heres a novices point of view. system restore is good, if you keep it running and let it set up restore points itself. it is also good as you can also set manual restore points too, so if you think that a certain point is where your computer is working at its best or peak point. if you could handle having something go wrong and do a major infection or crash, then this is the point you wish to back to is fine. as i dont add many extras to my programs i do a manual restore point once a week, as a precaution to save my bum if i do something to stuff up my system. and as i am consistantly told your computer is only as good as the person who operates it, if you dont understand something dont do it, or dont expect your computer to fix your problem that you caused it to have. so is this a good thought or opinion to have? is this correct enuf for you techs ? i am learning and i dont touch what i dont know about. and thank you to all the past and present people who have saved my bacon! :) Beetle |
