125650 2003-03-05 02:08:00 Hi
I have just got your (PC World) mag with it's CD with the SP3 win2000 update.

Now, I am not an IT person but I should be able to follow your instructions, however I have come unstuck. after disabling virus checker etc and opening the Run command box I cannot get the "sfc/scannow" to actually do anything ("quotes" not included)
I get a "cannot find file" type of error message.
What am I doing wrong?? Please help ?:|

125651 2003-03-05 02:23:00 I haven't read the PC world instructions, but I don't see why they would require you to use the System File Checker (SFC) to apply Service Pack 3 to Windows 2000.

You should only need to double click the file and follow the prompts to install the service pack.

125652 2003-03-05 04:49:00 If you typed sfc/scannow just like that, you should have got an error. The sfc is the programme name. It has to be separated from the "option" /scannow by a space. If there isn't a space, it's all taken as the name of a programme to be run. And there isn't one. :D Graham L (2)
