| 125533 | 2003-03-04 10:38:00 | Hi.... I'm planning to get a new hard disk. and i was just wondering which is better off in performance and why(for academic reasons too :) ) Option A: A 80G (Maxtor) HDD, 7200rpm, ata133 with 2mb buffer. Option B: a 80G Western Digital 7200rpm HDD. ata100 with 8mb buffer. Lets say price is not an issue, and my motherboard support ata133 drives. below is my system spec.. WinXP PRO 512mb ddr ram Gforce 4 64mb ddr 1x cd rom & 1x cdrw 1x secondary IDE HDD (20G 5400rpm) Thank You :D |

Anybody with any other comments??? the more the better :D by the way, i forgot to mention that i play games alot.... not sure if this makes ppl with different thoughts. Also, would ata133 have a big speed brust differents? (Speed is important... :D I personally thinkin of getting a Maxtor drives, but im not sure. Need some opinion from u guys). Thanks again.... |

There are no problems whatsoever with the new DiamondMaxPlus drives, and if you take a look at reviews which are free available on the net, I think you'll find they agree with the statement as well. In terms of pure speed, the ATA133 has a clearly measureable advantage over the other. Lo. |

| 125538 | 2003-03-04 11:15:00 | In fact, I'll make it even easier for you. Read this (www.slautech.co.uk) first before looking elsewhere. It's basically the Maxtor vs Western Digital. The Maxtor whups the Western's butt over 4 (that's right FOUR) different benchmarks. Hope it helps :) Lo. |
