she is not online so i thought id try you guys.
her children play games such as harry potter etc on their computer but just recnetly some of the games do not have much sound or will not have any sound at all but she says otherwise the speakers work fine, for all other purposes,
can any one tell me why it does this and can she fix it?
she has XP home like me tobut hers would be 18mths old now.

remember keep it simple so i can explain to her, i remeber reading something about this on another thread in the time i have been joined to this pressf1 help line but dont know where to look now.

thanxs

125444 2003-03-04 23:29:00 Youve given it about 14 hours dude, Sometimes people can only catch up once ever two or so days.

Im not too sure of the answer myself, but try putting in the KEYWORDS of your problem into google.

What is the sound card make/model

Is it Onboard or an actual PCI or ISA soundcard

Have you updated the drivers from the vendor's website?

Cheers

so i did not mean to be rude ok.

just was online and thought someone could help who hadnt previously read it.
and no idea about sound card or wot else as the speakers all work ok at other times, ill check to see if they no... but i wouldnt hold my breath they no less than me.

125446 2003-03-04 23:45:00 The sound mixer settings have probably been changed. If there's an icon like a speaker on the bottom line, click on that, and experiment.

It's unlikely to be anything else.

right hand side of the tray, it looks like a wee speaker. Double click on it to get the full menu with seperate volumes for .wavs, Cd, midi, and various others

125449 2003-03-05 01:10:00 If they are running Windows XP home then the speaker icon is not shown by default usually. So might have to go into the control panel - Multimedia / Sound settings (Can't remember the exact name of the icon!)
Should be able to adjust volume there and also tell it to put speaker icon onto taskbar.
