| 125750 | 2003-03-07 05:07:00 | ok i went to this domain page an well i cant get it to check names, to see if they are available..... says you need a sign in name or password (forget which) but i dont under stand what it means to have a correct registry / register name. name@something.com ? lost! help anyone...... this is more new scary territory.......maybe i should just curl up my beetle wings and go into hibernation mode this is just getting a little mind boggling. ill just put this in the to hard box till my brain gets back......lol an i dont believe anyone anymore who says computers is easy!........ life suxs.... brain has crashed, need to restore to original state.......... no its not that bad but could be..... thanxs beetle |

| 125751 | 2003-03-07 05:34:00 | beetle, Go to www.registerdirect.net.nz At the top is a search facility that allows you to try a domain name to see it it is registered. You can ignore the log-in, this is for members to change the settings for the email addresses etc. The idea is that if it isn't registered you can go the next step and score it for yourself, which you may or may not choose to do. I don't quite get if/why you now want a website. I thought you just wanted permanant range of email addresses that belong to your hotel rather than your ISP ?:| I have this advice. Do a website well or not at all. Tis better not to be represented on the web, than be represented badly. No website tells people nothing, they might still ring up to check you out. A poor website suggests to people your buiseness is half-ass. There are plenty of designers through here. FAQ#(something) is "what sites PF1 members own". O yeah, you mentioned something.com ? something.com & something.co.nz are allready taken by some american thingy, & something.net.nz is mine, so you can't have it! .Clueless |

| 125753 | 2003-03-07 06:23:00 | OK... .co.nz is used to represent a company in NZ .com is a company nowhere particular, or America. These are guidelines, not hard and fast rules. They are however understood, and .co.nz will imply the location that you are marketing. From what little i know of your buiseness, i would recomend registering <your hotels name>.co.nz or as close to it as you can get. I would do it at registerdirect, and let them store the mail for you rather than your ISP as a 10meg mailbox will be less likely to bounce mail back to the potentual custumer than the ISP's 5 meg box. You can of course pick the said mail up through any computer, via any ISP. I could show you how my set up works if you like with a step by step set of screen shots. | 125756 | 2003-03-07 20:17:00 | ok ive done a bit of digging and it does have a page, photos, info etc. but it does not have a domain page and i still have not been able to find it, or something along the lines of it on domain only cause i cant get it to work.......lol im still not sure about all this stuff, but someone else has cleared up a few things for me, thank you. and im not ruleing out any more help or changes to mail address's, or webs but i gotta a lot going on here and we havent started runnuing it yet...ok? and if any one is coming to wanganui apparently our motel is the cheapest in town at moment, we intend to fininsh redecorating.....
