125552 2003-03-04 20:36:00 If your concerned about reliability, keep in mind that apart from IBM & Samsung, other drives have 12 month warranty, not 3 yrs. Pheonix (280)
125553 2003-03-04 20:38:00 Ummm... you sure about that? Maxtor's have 3 years (www.maxtor.co.jp) too.

Might want to check that before you post that statement Phoenix.

I know samsung have 3 years warranty, but I'm not sure about IBM, I thought they were down to 1 year now.

125557 2003-03-05 05:19:00 Well I'll be dammed :), I ordered the HDD at 10 AM this morning, and I've just got back from the GYM and there was my HDD sitting at reception, talk about service! :D nz_liam (845)
125558 2003-03-05 05:24:00 I've got a Barracuda IV, works fine. Perfectly.

Anyway, you should've got a SerialATA drive! They're hot-pluggable!

And your offering to pay for it and the serial ata card, thanks man, so I'll get a marginal speed increase for a setup that costs 3 times as much, man your a pal.

125560 2003-03-05 07:18:00 Well I'll start off with a statement that I think is rather truthful.

All hardware manufacturers make bad products.......just not all the time

Everyone has their own preferences. But in the end there is no way to know if something is bad or not. If it dies it dies.

Though somethings are more likely to die than others. Billy T's Fujitsu drive was an examples of this. Also the Maxtor D740X 60GB is likely to die sooner than others.

IBM had a drive that was known as the DeathStar. There newer drives are fine.... and some of the fastest you can buy.
