125947 2003-03-06 08:26:00 I have been waiting for the price of the XP 2600+ CPU to drop. It now has but is suddenly advertised as having a 333MHz Front-side Bus. Prior to the price drop it featured a 266MHz Front-side Bus. My motherboard can only take a 266MHz Front-side Bus.
I don't quite understand the reason why it should suddenly increase Front-side Bus.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
Thank you in advance.

125948 2003-03-07 08:13:00 AMD is struggling to keep up with Intel. The latest Intel processors support a 533mhz (somebody correct me if I'm wrong) FSB (Front side bus). The FSB is how fast the CPU communicates with the motherboard, and other things on the motherboard. Theoratically, the faster the FSB, the better the performance, which is why AMD has increased it. A fast FSB isn't the only thing which will improve performance, but it is one factor.

You should still be able to get AthlonXP 2600+ CPUs with a 266mhz FSB, but the numbers may be limited.
