125893 2003-03-06 03:30:00 hey i was wondering where i could find the correct "display adapter" for a Compaq MV520?

will it be on the windows 98 disc?
i'm just a lil scared that i will remove the display from properties (my comp->properties) and that i won't be able to get it back on :/

am i worrying too much?

ooh btw running windows 98, on a compaq prestairio 5396

125894 2003-03-06 03:36:00 You don't really need the correct drivers for a monitor.
Windows should detect it as a Plug 'n' Play monitor and it should work fine.

Never seen a computer with the correct drivers installed for the monitor except ones that have say a 19" monitor or LCD screen.
Really only used to get correct refresh rates etc

125895 2003-03-06 06:54:00 If you do get rid of it you can set the display adapter to a standard one until you can find or download the apropiate one so don't panic. mikebartnz (21)
125896 2003-03-06 09:55:00 the "display adapter" is the video card not monitor, and yes you will need the proper drivers. never assume they will be on the windows disk.

easiest way is to go to compaqs website and dowload them, or open the case have a look at what video card it has ad download the drivers from the manafactures website.
