126313 2003-03-09 08:32:00 Hi

Not sure about your mobo but, my Soltek (SL-75KAV) detects which bus ratio to set automatically. This is what my manual says: "When LED SSF1 light is on, meaning that bus ratio select function is enabled". I take this to mean that if the LED is on the dip switches can/are used to set the clock ratio. On my board this option is selected by JP17 (jumper 17) Yours is probably different so best to consult the manual or download the .pdf version from Soltek. On mine there is another LED (ZD1) which when lit means there is power to the ram slots and no tampering should be done when it is on.

Your board has no problem running the xp CPU.

You sure there isn't a drop down list of other CPUs to bench mark within the bench mark module in SiSoft?

Cheers

Have one myself... shouldn't be a problem, but only if you installed your RAM back ok...

126316 2003-03-09 08:36:00 Ah..

There are 4 drop down boxes.. but they list everything from 386's to a P4 1.6GHz or an Athlon 1.33GHz... nothing higher...

Because SW1 switch 5 is OFF and the LED is off I'm pretty sure that it's on Auto-Detect... would this not have made my FSB correct?

I'll reboot and have a look in the BIOS... if anybody's still reading this PLEASE keep yer eye here - I wanna get this sorted :)

126317 2003-03-09 08:38:00 ok this is just getting messy LOL

I've installed tons of RAM before in different comp's and I'm pretty sure I didnt *** it up - especially in my OWN machine heh

126318 2003-03-09 08:44:00 Just downloaded SiSoft and ran it on my PC:- 2100XP 256Meg 2700 RAM Gigabyte GA-7VA mobo.

Results on memory test:=

Float FPU (Float STREAM) Memory Results Breakdown:

Multi Processor Test: No
Dynamic MP Load Balance: No
Processor Affinity: No

Instruction Set Report:

MMX Technology: Yes
SSE Technology: Yes
SSE2 Technology: No

Used version 2003.1.9.28

So looks like something seriously wrong with memory or settings.
Have you checked BIOS setting is set for memory automatic?

126319 2003-03-09 08:48:00 Notice that next to "Array Memory Used" it states HALF your total RAM - as did mine.. hmm..

But yeah - that certainly shows that there's something wrong here...

Busily looking thru my BIOS as I type this (Using old mans computer for this)

126320 2003-03-09 08:51:00 Have you run 3dMark2001 before? It's from MadOnion (http://www.madonion.com).

126321 2003-03-09 08:57:00 Slow down, you just throwing thoughts into the wind at this stage, download the 2002 or 2003 version of sandra (www.sisoftware.net)
and do the tests as loshing suggested, then report back to us. Not with expansive detail, but how you compared with a system of similar specs to yours.

126322 2003-03-09 09:07:00 OK roofus - will do now . . .

Could you *PLEASE* hang about for a while ?

Would be GREATLY appreciated . . .

Also - my BIOS is telling my my FSB is 133 . . . . .

Advanced Chipset Features --> DRAM Clock/Drive Control --> Current FSB Frequency = 133MHz

How can this be when my its auto-detecting my CPU? The "Codified Identification Marking" (string of characters on the CPU itself) states it has a 266MHz FSB . . . (last 2 characters are 3 + C - meaning 256K L2 Cache and 266MHz FSB)
