126731 2003-03-09 02:52:00 Hi Again.

Was just in the bios and noticed my CPU was 46 Degrees.

CPU is a 1.3 GHz AMD Duron. Does any one know the recomended temperature for this CPU. if so can you tell me please

Cheers

126732 2003-03-09 03:38:00 Your fine, operating temperatures vary depending on your cooling setup but if its in the 30-70 range then you are fine, if it starts getting near 100 then you could be in trouble,
Mines running at 44 degrees right now

126733 2003-03-09 03:39:00 What motherboard do you have because I have an MSI one and the bios needs flashing as the temp says 69 but that is not a correct reading.
Your reading is not excessive so I wouldn't worry. Have a look at AMD's site and they have the info there.

126734 2003-03-09 08:23:00 What proggy should I download to check the 'REAL' temperature of my CPU etc, as I know the BIOS reading isnt too accurate, as its pretty idle! Chilling_Silence (9)
126735 2003-03-09 08:31:00 I have a feeling that there was one on a recent PCWorld cd but if it works through the bios it too will give an incorrect reading. mikebartnz (21)
126736 2003-03-09 08:41:00 Hi

Do you have a monitoring utility on your mother boards installation CD? Why would your readings be inaccurate? How do you know they are wrong and wouldn't that be the best method by default?

Cheers :)

126738 2003-03-09 19:17:00 lol get water cooling, i have an Athlon 2000+ and it gets to 53 degrees under load aka BF1942 with a fan and heat sink the size of texas and sounds like the volcano it is ;) aka Volcano 9... well thats what the speed nob is for and at its lowest speed you can barely hear it... Those temps are fine its just when it gets to 70 degrees like mine used to in games ;)

126739 2003-03-09 20:18:00 Anyone had a Duron 'thermal overload' on them :D, had a system that would run for a min or so and then just cut off, we poped open the case and found the CPU fan unplugged, so we pluged it in and then watched it cool down from 85 degrees in the BIOS :D nz_liam (845)
126740 2003-03-09 21:34:00 Try this program mbprobe122e. Not sure where I got it from now. It can be Googled
