| 126698 | 2003-03-08 21:21:00 | Hi Lojos, You don't mention what operating system you are using. If you are just wanting to have a look at the file go to it's location on your c: drive (possibly in the My Documents file) and right mouse click. This should give you a number of options, one of which will be Open with.... Click on that and then try to open it with another program, either Word or perhaps notepad. When doing this ensure that you have the check box "Always use this Program to open" un-ticked Hope this helps |

Are you wanting to to change it to a different format so the person can open it. Did they give any reason why they could not open it, do you know what email program they are using. Not quite sure what you are trying to do when you say you can't open it, if they just replied to your email the attachment will not be there. What email program are you using |

I am running Windows 98.The attachment is in the My Documents file but when I try to open it there is no open with just open and then it says there was an error opening the doc. file does not begin with %PDF. | 126701 | 2003-03-09 01:20:00 | To reassign to file to MS word, hold down shift, right click on the file, and choose "Open with...". Scroll down the list of programs and choose "winword". Put a tick beside "always use this programme..." and hit OK. Hopefully that will be enough to fix it. |

| 126702 | 2003-03-09 03:41:00 | Are you using Outlook 2000 or more recent email program? If so your email may have been sent as a dat file which can only be opened by the same program at the receiving end (thanks Microsoft). I can't remember how to change this and don't have time right now to check, but hopefully somebody will know off the top of their head and post an answer if that is the problem. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

| 126703 | 2003-03-09 04:19:00 | Browse to the file in My Documents - check its extension - it will look something like "Something.pdf" - if it doesn't show you the 3 letter extension, go Start | Settings | Folder Options | View and uncheck Do Not Show Hidden or System Files. Then go back to the file in My Documents, and rename (right-click | Rename) it from Something.pdf (or whatever it is) to Something.doc. Now double-click the file to open it - it doesn't open automatically, it would appear that your Word programme has a prob. In that case, choose to open it with QuickView to view the document (it won't allow you to edit it). If you don't have QuickView, post back and we'll explain how to install it from your Windows CD. Incidentally, QuickView could also be used by your recipient to view the file. |
