| 126535 | 2003-03-08 03:54:00 | I seem to need Safe Mode to defrag. What do you reckon is the best way to enter Safe Mode using Win 98 SE? Sorry for my previous posting asking for Edit Mode instead of Safe mode. Thanks Geeks. |

Safe Mode, etc, use arrow keys to go to safe mode and hit enter. Or........ Go to Start > Shut Down and choose Restart in Safe Mode. Cheers Murray P |

This method has been known to lead to a number of swear words, a reboot and retry tapping faster. |

Holding Ctrl while booting is the answer for my PC.. I ran out of swear words using F8. God bless, dumb-bell. |

| 126541 | 2003-03-09 02:11:00 | Sorry about your frustration with the f8 key. It was the way I was first showed how to access the start options and have never got out of the habit and used the better alternatives for some reason. Cheers Murray P |

| 126543 | 2003-03-09 02:18:00 | The "correct" way used to be to press F8 while the system is saying "Loading Windows ...". If you don't catch that (probably very small, now) time window, it doesn't work. Thus the bad language. :D | Graham L (2) | ||
