| 126661 | 2003-03-09 04:43:00 | It's amazing how many people talk about how SLow PF1 loads and somehow I doubt that even half of them * Have guns to their heads with 5 seconds to load the page before their brains are blown out * Leaving to go to work but can't live throughout the day not knowing the responses to a thread * Need to go to the toilet urgently, but can't stand waiting to get out to read the replies Or some other reason that they HAVE to get the page loading faster...... Patience is a virture people.... |

| 126662 | 2003-03-09 05:54:00 | Trev0 you are so lucky to be getting pages within 30 seconds! I am currently having to wait up to 3 minutes for the main PF1 page to reload and any threads I click on, and that is if it doesn't give me the good old "page not found" message first! :_| It is not the ads slowing me down because my firewall blocks them. Another visit to the modem speed test page gives me this on 56K dial up: 2.23 KBps (KiloBytes per second) 2283.48 Bps (Bytes per second) 25118.33 bps (bits per second) The test page took : 35.875 seconds to load Which is actually a good result compared to some of the speeds I get. It is very frustrating to surf this site (and others) with these speeds and regular time-outs. I have been assuming it is an on-going problem at my end or with my ISP. Jen :-( |

I am on a good line (not rural), and regularly connect at between 46 - 49 Kbps. I rarely get disconnections. My modem is external - Dynalink 56K e-modem 1456VQE. My ISP is Actrix. I am currently working my way through various trouble-shooting ideas, so I haven't given up yet. I have been having problems for a wee while now which seem to be getting a lot worse recently. I just found it interesting to see other people have been getting slow page loading here at PF1. Sorry Trev0 for the little hijack of your thread :8} |
